Merry Bleedin' Christmas

Throbgoblins International have been somewhat off the boil of late - allowing ourselves to get sidetracked into celtic knotwork, inconsolable post-modern despair and acoustic geeetars. We are in the process of pulling our socks up and getting our collective shit back on the road. Apologies for the delay.
A little contemplation on the economics of inaction - courtesy of cantankerous Frank - is on its way.
In the meantime, be of good cheer. The imminent ecological catastrophe is being beckoned just that bit harder over the chriistmas period, so ENJOY IT. While you can.

Random LabRats

Here's probably the last bunch of Labrats for a while. The site still looms pregnantly in the ether somewhere, as all efforts are going into the site, which is up, if incomplete.

It's the wettest Summer since records began. Trumpton is drowning and I... live by the river.

For everyone not injuncted who's planning on a Heathrow camping holiday this year. Be of good cheer. Does that look like Charlton Heston to you?

Surgical Enhancement

I fully realise that there is nothing clever or original in pointing out that - by and large -men are undiscerning, Pavlovian bonobos, but it is too rich a seam of comic possibilities to walk away from. Don't get me wrong, I am as easily and unproductively distracted as the next man. I command no moral high ground. But the terms and conditions of my official Ministry of Culture Artistic licence release me from any requirements vis a vis ethical consistency, containing as it does an annually renewable hypocricy permit (available at post offices and most branches of WH Smith). I hope this amuses as many as it offends.

It looks alarmingly like the new website will be - gasp - useable! No more arseing about with endless scrolling.
Here are the draft pages for a Titanic strip. It needs some tinkering and perhaps a massive catastrophic ending, but I commend it to the house. I think there's something in there to offend everyone.
I have been staring at the screen for so long today that my eyes feel like they belong to someone else. I hope he takes better care of them than I do.

Smoke free

Smoking in enclosed public places becomes illegal in the whole of the UK today, as England catches up with the celtic fringe. Throbgoblins International gave up the vile poisonous filth en masse four years ago and are therefore all insufferably smug about the whole thing. Here are some old cartoons to celebrate the occassion.

International Resource Management

Forgive me if I repeat myself. Now our beloved leader has seamlessly passed from planner and wager of aggressive war (see Neuremberg) to middle eastern peace envoy - (oh how we laughed) - I would just like to post this thread as a little reminder of the acts we came to know him by and the political reality he helped to usher in. Names, places and species have been changed to protect the innocent, and other stuff chucked in for (what I like to think of as) comic effect.

Access all areas?

It's all about access, isn't it: access to power, access to money, access to clean water and elected representatives, access to hard drugs and cable TV. Even as I sit here I am accessing the international coffee trade and all the many and varied interwoven components of the global hot buttered toast market. In my attempts to access a global audience I have accessed the internet after accessing cheap credit and out-of-town shopping facilities. This has not been as successful, tasteful or productive as the toast excercise, but it is a truism of modern business that 4 out of 5 global conspiracies fail within their first year of trading. International competition - it's a bugger! Pre-industrial conspiracies were more of a local affair and more straightforward to set up - 5 blokes in a field in Tolpuddle and you've got yourself a collectivist steamroller (or 5 dead blokes in a field). These days you need access and for that you need.......well, if I knew that...!

What did you do in the war, Daddy?

A cheap shot, but nonetheless....

Fearless Ferret -Ace Reporter

Michel Foucault's theory of power is a concensual and circulatory affair: All that is necessary for the triumph of orthodoxy is that 'self evident' truths are propogated in such osmotic abundance as to block the inception/passage of any alternative possibilities. People continue to do things that they believe to be "correct" by popular agreement and common practice. Thus conformity is the given that grounds the use and abuse of institutional and collective power in all its forms - making it unthinkable to perform outside the established norm.

Now here's a cartoon with a big pig.

From Our Mediaevel archive:- After a lifetime of uncertificated, freelance fornication, covetousness, and general sinning, all the "irredeemably" damned have to do is purchase one of our wide range of bone- fide, get-out-of-hell-free indulgence certificates - from one of our many splendidly outfitted and divinely sanctioned outlets, and everything's immediately fandabbydozy. Mass-murderer? Torturer? Serial Parking Offender? God can't touch you for it. It's watertight, honest. Endowment mortgages also available.

I have put all the CLIMATE CHANGE CARTOONS, both spots and strips, into one seperate blog -

This will make them easier to find and to access. I will post the climate change stuff, and associated activity, in both blogs.

Growing pains

Growth. It's an article of faith and an uncriticised given in our culture. We get bigger and bigger and bigger is better. To hell with less, more is more and only more will do. We cannot let a little thing like global catastrophe get in the way of ever-expanding consumerism. How else will we purchase our shaky, half-arsed identities?

There's plenty more where we came from.
